We have all done it! Played in giant sized freeroll fields online or even in pub leagues with people that have no clue how to play poker. We were all once one of these people, some of us clued on more then others. A lot of us started with premium starting hands only, others played only 2 cards. Regardless of how we played, where we played or what we did. We all were newbies at one stage. Now we find ourselves playing newbies or have played them and find ourselves being STUNG time and time again as their bad play is rewarded.

I personally, was sick to death of being knocked out by retards. Calling my 3 and 4xbb raises with tossy cards like K2os only to be rewarded when they hit 2 pair on the flop. I decided the last few months to go on a mission to determine how to beat these "beaters" at their own game.

I have held some poker parties of late with players that have no idea how to play. Add some alcohol into their system and by god its poker dooms day! You can't chastise their play either  - they all stick up for each other making statements such as "Your telling him how to play? Look how many chips he has! Clearly there is no need." I have just non stop sighed! I thought there had to be a formula to whack these people out and have them close the door behind.

I found the formula to beat them before the game starts (I think). I thought it would be good to share it and get your valued input and thoughts. Please note this does NOT apply to every player. Some you can't beat this way! Also please note that sadly some of us simply can't use it at all, one of them is ME at the moment lol. It depends on the situation..........

The formula is based on a simple things: MONEY! & PRIDE.

Don't play against them unless they are PAYING! and PAYING BIGGGGG to get in the game one way or another! You are always going to find these players in freerolls. If they are in paying games which will effect their budgets, talk them up, give them a mouthful, tell them you know they have junk and fold. After beating into their head that YOU KNOW; just a few times.... you will find out they change tactics to try and "fool" you and start playing readable hands. They will also change their pattern of play so you can pick when they do. You are always going to find them when there is no money involved and no pride on the line and they ALWAYS want to show you up and prove you wrong. You are always going to waste countless hours for no result against them - unless you are very lucky OR you make them pay! To some players MONEY is worth more, to others its SELF PRIDE and EGO. Just work with the one you have to for any given player and table them!

In saying all of this, I could be very wrong. Opinions please, the more heads the better! :) How do you get around them?

It's hard, but the key is to accept the variance that comes with losing to them.  If it's a freeroll, you will lose a lot.  Your win rate might even be lower at this game than the money games, but the times when your luck is above average, you will get there.  As far as one-upping them in the ego war, although you deserve to be the one to win, but more often than not lose anyway, and these other players who haven't a clue will never even know that you're any good at all, you just have to swallow your pride and move on. You'll never get to share your win stories with them because by the time you do win, they will have moved on to some other life pursuit.  So try to smile a little when you make a big deposit into your bank account.  When the teller asks you "how are you?" you can reply "pretty good" and mean it!
