ReBuy vs Non-Rebuy Tournaments

Well now, lets talk about this for a bit. There is a lot of talk about having ReBuys in a
tournament, what do you think? I think a limited amount is ok, like say 1 or 2
is ok, for that time when you think or do have the best hand going in pre flop
and get suked out on. Like going all in preflop with the good old pocket aces
and some donkey calls with a drawing type hand and hits on you. That will give
you a chance to stay in the game, it does happen a lot where some one will call
on a draw and hit the flop or even all the way to the river. In rebuys this
will happen a lot more often then when you don’t have the opportunity to rebuy.
Players will be calling a lot more often on the all ins to try to chip up and
get a ton of chips early in the tournament knowing if they lose the hand they
can just hit to rebuy button.

The rebuy games can and will get out of hand, these games will have all kinds of action in them, so for the action junkies out there these
just might be your game. You can spend a lot of money In these games as well,
trying to buy your way in chips, and not even make the money. So how far do you
go in your rebuys? Do you realy want to spend more money in rebuys then the
prize will pay out? These are some questions, I guess that you will need to ask
your self before playing. How many times am I going to rebuy in the event? How
much money am I going to invest in this game?

Who has the advantage in these rebuys games? Well that is a easy one, the one that has deep
pockets or the money to invest in the game. The player that does not have the money
to invest will have a dis-advantage, so they will have to play smart and hope like
hell they don’t get suked out on, to survive the game and make it in the money.

The bad thing about the rebuy games are that they can take a long time to play. You  must have
some will power and play the best hands and hope for the best some times. I think,
if you do not have the funds to make a lot of rebuys, then try to play just the
best hands, during the rebuy period. Do a lot of folding and wait until the rebuy
period is over they you can make up for it when the blinds get a little higher in
the game and take down the big pots. That will make up for it.

So before you get into any tournament, make sure to look and see if it has rebuys or not. Don’t be the one that say, I didn’t know this was a rebuy, crap if I knew that I wouldn’t of got in it. Make sure you know
what you are playing before playing.

ReBuy vs. Non-ReBuy Tournaments

First off you're comparing apples & oranges,

If you expect someone to play a rebuy the same as a freeze out you're

just kidding yourself, of course there will be more loose calls and bets

Especially if the rebuys are plentiful and cheap.

Rather than whine and bitch adjust your play accordingly or

Wait till the last minute to register when late registration is available or

Just play freezes out games.

The one that has deep pockets or the money to invest in the game.

Does not necessarily have the advantage in these rebuys games because if

He/she keeps rebuying their chips are going elsewhere they are just building the pot

Which is not necessarily a bad thing.

The Loose player or Donkey which ever you prefer may just surprise you and tighten their play after the rebuy add-on period which in turn will make you adjust You’re play or bitching again you choose.

It’s still gambling, so if a player doesn’t play according to one of the numerous poker books out there, either suck it up or do something else like knitting
