Amy Frey-Zupko

Amy Zupko has enjoyed the poker industry in both a personal aspect since 2001 and in a professional capacity since 2004. As a moderator for WomensPokerClub, a position she still enjoys, she is able to see first hand the trials, tribulations and successes of women in poker and give them a voice through her writing.
As poker writer she has worked for Woman Poker Player Magazine (print version), authored the weekly column "Women's Poker Spotlight" for PokerNews.com, contributed to the book "Women's Poker Night:Stories and Strategies from the Feminine Side of the Felt," and now has come full circle to write again for "Woman Poker Player" online. Her articles include interviews with professional players and cover vast range of topics.
Amy looks forward to bringing her expertise and giving listeners a new look at the poker industry through Women's Poker Hour.

Jennifer Shahade

Jennifer Shahade is a Philadelphia based gamesplayer and writer. She is the author of Chess Bitch: Women in the Ultimate Intellectual Sport, co-author of Marcel Duchamp: The Art of Chess, and the editor of uschess.org.
Jennifer is forever in search of new ways to present games. 2009 was a particularly fruitful year for this: She created hula-chess and naked chess with DimMak Films and roulette-chess with artist and curator Larry List. Jennifer is currently in post production for two 2010 video projects, a feminist poker fairy tale and a reality chess TV show.
Going deep in the Ladies World Series of Poker in 2007 (17th out of over 1200 players) and 2008 (33rd out of 1190) are among Jennifer's poker career highlights. She also played in the WSOP Main Event for the first time in 2009. You can follow her poker results and thoughts on poker on her website.
Jennifer is the co-founder of 9queens, a Tucson based non profit. Jennifer is also a live commentator and an organizer of the 2010 US Chess Championships, hosted by another non-profit, the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis.

Carmenlita Cothron

Carmenlita is a Sign Language Interpreter, who is originally from Anchorage Alaska, but now lives in Silver Spring, Maryland. She started playing poker only three years ago. Carmenlita has a BA in Business & Accounting, and an MA in Linguistics, with an emphasis on non-verbal communication, which she claims helps her in reading her opponents. She says that in every family function when she was growing up, all games were played for money, maybe just nickels and dimes, but money was involved. So, she learned the value of a dollar pretty quickly, and learned what it took to win even quicker, being extremely competitive. Playing live cash games with some friends, she heard of online poker, and a freeroll that would possibly give her the chance to play poker on TV with some of the worlds most famous professional players. She boasted to her friends that they were gonna see her on TV playing poker one day, and they did.
Carmenlita was able to make it through the grueling qualifying process to be one of 16 contestants on the FOX PokerStars Million Dollar Challenge, and out of the 16, Carmenlita was the only one to win all her heads up matches. She walked away with a prize of $100,000. Carmenlita hopes that her skills continue to improve so that one day, she can say she took down the WSOP Main Event. Her dream is to open up a Early Education Resource Center for deaf children and their families.
